Requirements to join the Salesians

The following are guidelines that I hope can serve to guide the process of vocational discernment and recruitment of youngsters wishing to join the congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

           1. Any candidate wishing must be catholic and must be actively involved in the church.
           2. Any young person wishing to join us must be 23 years of age and not more than that. Any candidate wishing to join us after his college/university studies should not be more than 25 years age and that will be the sole prerogative of the Provincial. Through the process of Spiritual Discernment and Psychological Testing, the Provincial will ascertain the suitability of the candidate for Salesian life.
          3. We normally do not accept candidates from other seminaries.
           4. Academic requirements; For a candidate to be admitted to the congregation, he should have secured a minimum of three credits in ‘A’ level for Tanzanian candidates and C+ for Kenyan candidates and a successful completion of secondary for Sudan Candidates.
          5. The candidate must attend a selection camp, then if selected can join a Salesian community for aspirantate preprogramme (come and see) which lasts 1 to 1?2 year.

2. ID

3. Application letter from the candidate

4. Recommendation letter from the Parish Priest

5. Permission letter from Parents

6. KCSE results slip

7. Marriage certificate (if there’s)
